Individuals with autism possess great gifts that must be tapped into. YAWA is here to assist in discovering those great treasures. It is beneficial for developing the communication skills of individuals with autism. Individuals with autism prefer complete isolation and become complacent with the lifestyle unless parents intervene. Young adulthood is a critical time to expand their comfort level and become involved in and around the community. These individuals need social activities to provide interaction with others. YAWA provides those social activities in an educational surrounding to build skills and interests. There is no reason why individuals with autism cannot benefit from the same rewards that life has to bring just as any other adult.
Special thanks to Barnes & Thornburg for inviting YAWA to a lunch and learn in June. By matching the contributions of their staff, they were able to give a very generous donation! We can't thank you enough for your support. YAWA uses its donations towards providing events that are geared towards education, or as we like to call it EDUTAINMENT!
