YAWA, INC
Help support our charitable organization,
YAWA (Young Adults With Autism), Inc, is focused on improving the lives of individuals with autism.
Our mission: to provide individuals with autism a path to enhance their communication and social skills while enjoying structured activities with other young adults with (and without) autism.
Young adults with autism tend to be more complacent with their lifestyle than other young adults. Their complacency is due to their preference for isolation and solitude. YAWA’s primary objective is to get these individuals involved with their communities, while remaining within their comfort zone. Adulthood is expressed through autonomy, membership, and change. YAWA has received much interest within the community as well as many volunteers to coordinate activities, but financial support is needed for its success.
Our goal: is to raise $15,000 in 2020. Every tax deductible gift makes an impact for YAWA. Your gift sends a powerful message that you support this institution and its educational mission.
Thanks to all our contributors support in 2019, YAWA was able to raise $9,700. YAWA continues to operate using over 95% of these donations directly towards our program and not administration cost.
With all of the support YAWA will continue to: expand our community outreach and educational program by increasing the number of participants even more; provide heightened awareness to the community; provide a resource website for access to pertinent information for individuals with autism and their caregivers as well as a blog for parents to share ideas; and most importantly, provide frequent social activities and education to those with autism so that these individuals can express themselves with those in their community. YAWA provides activities necessary in learning to communicate with others who are autistic, and with society as a whole, through fun, chaperoned activities that enhance their need to belong. These activities can improve their social interaction, communications skills, and sensory stimulation. An example of these activities include bowling, sporting and cultural events, and cooking and cleaning classes necessary for an independent lifestyle and adapting to society.
It's heartwarming to hear statements from our participants such as, "Now I have friends here at YAWA" or "All I want to do is make a difference"
Thank you so much for your support. Please send your contributions to:
